2011 OMT Junior Faculty Consortium
August 11-12, 2011
Call for Applications
(Deadline Extended: June 15, 2011)
The OMT division is pleased to present the annual OMT Junior Faculty workshop. If you hold an assistant professor rank (or its equivalent), this professional development workshop is for you. The workshop provides a forum for interacting with senior colleagues to glean insights into the knowledge that you need to prosper in both the local and global academic environment. The workshop focuses on strategies for impact as a scholar and teacher, as well as on building a career in diverse professional settings. In the workshop, you will have a chance to interact with an exciting team of workshop Fellows through panels, discussion and informal talk, and to meet many other peers early in their careers.
The OMT Division focuses on building and testing theory about organizations, their management and members, inter-organizational relations, and environments and organizing processes. If you are an Assistant Professor and your research focuses on these areas, then you are a candidate for the OMT Junior Faculty Consortium.
The roster of Fellows for the 2011 (as of April 27, 2011) Workshop includes:
The workshop will be held just prior to the Academy of Management meetings in San Antonio, starting with an informal dinner/mixer on Thursday evening August 11th at 6pm through Friday August 12th at 5:00 pm. Friday August 12th from 3:00-5:00 PM is the Teaching Roundtable, where you will have the chance to talk with exemplary scholars-teachers in small groups about specific courses and techniques for high impact teaching.
There is limited enrollment to ensure that Fellows and participants have ample time to interact in formal and informal settings. We expect 30-35 new faculty participants and 14 Fellows. You are more than welcome to self-nominate, but we also encourage deans, department chairs, former workshop alumni and other senior faculty to suggest this workshop to junior faculty whom they think would benefit from the experience. To apply, send a nomination letter (or self-nomination) that includes the following:
Apply as soon as possible as space is limited, but no later than June 1, 2011. Accepted participants will be required to pay $100.00 USD to defer the costs of the Thursday night dinner, and Friday breakfast and lunch.
